Kellie Pickler Booted Off Idol

North Carolina native Kellie Pickler has been booted from American Idol.
Judge Simon Cowell said on Tuesday's program that her rendition of the Righteous Brothers classic "Unchained Melody" was bland. Paula Abdul also offered tough criticism, saying she didn't see that Pickler, 19, was raising the bar each week.
"Pick Pickler" signs are up all around Albemarle, but Pickler's chances of becoming the next American Idol hit a sour note Wednesday night when she was voted out.
Friend Michele Bailey said he can't believe it.
"I was shocked I thought Paris would be the one voted off last night," she said.
Lunch talk at Catherine's Kitchen was all about Wednesday night's disappointment. Most of the workers know Pickler and questions filled the restaurant. Some people accept the loss while others say something wasn't right about it.
"I think sound was a lot of the problem Tuesday night. American Idol is not going to be the same without Kellie," said Bailey.
As Pickler made it into the last rounds of the competition, friends said the variety of songs shifted away from Pickler's forte.
"The songs she sang didn't do her justice. They really didn't," said one supporter.
Even though she lost, business owner Louise Howard said Pickler proved she'll soon be a recording star.
