LG supplies mobile TV phone to Germany

South Korea’s LG Electronics Inc. will launch its mobile TV broadcasting phone business in Europe with the first shipment of Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB)-enabled handsets to Germany in May, the company said in a report Friday (March 10).
LG said the DMB phone, dubbed LG-V9000, has now been showcased at the on-going CeBIT 2006 show in Hanover, Germany.

Mobile TV Ready To Takeoff in China

Mobile TV subscribers in China will grow to 94 million by 2009, the high-tech market research firm forecasts, with 2007 being the year that the services gather significant momentum.

"Telecom operators in China have developed a clear business model for streaming mobile video services over a 2.5G or 3G network," said Anty Zheng, In-Stat analyst. "But unclear regulations need to be straightened out so responsibilities and value chain positioning can be settled; otherwise, market development will be inhibited."
